VTT in DEDICAT 6G

VTT in DEDICAT 6G

VTT is contributing to DEDICAT 6G project as a Technical Manager of the project. VTT is taking part in system architecture definition and use case requirement analysis work, VTT will provide architectural and methodological support for distributed computation platforms and investigates computation placement optimization approaches.  VTT is developing dynamic coverage and connectivity extension via modelling of mobile access point networks and radio resource consumption. VTT will contribute to the implementation, integration, and set-up with lead of the Enhanced Experience use case.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is a state owned and controlled non-profit limited liability company established by law and operating under the ownership steering of the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy. VTT is an RTO whose activities are focused on three areas: Knowledge intensive products and services, Smart industry and energy systems, and Solutions for natural resources and environment. VTT is impact-driven and takes advantage from its wide multi-technological knowledge base to strengthen Finnish and European industrial competitiveness. VTT can combine different technologies, produce information, upgrade technology knowledge, and create business intelligence and value added for its stakeholders. Over the years, VTT has gained vast experience from participation and coordination of numerous European projects including R&D Framework Programme projects and other thematic frameworks and programmes. VTT is ranked among the leading European RTOs.

The DEDICAT 6G project has already been a success for VTT. Two example inventions include the Dedicated Edge Processor and Networked Computing Framework. The former enables faster and easier edge computing devices to support the distribution of intelligence while the latter helps to shape up efficient 6G networked computing devices and methodology more generally. Both were assessed as a highly potential innovation on the European Commission’s Innovation Radar (innoradar.eu) platform based on the innovation level of the innovation and the market maturity of the solution and the market creation potential. Other great examples of VTT’s work are the simulation activity related to the optimized implementations of mobile access points as part of the DEDICAT 6G coverage area expansion solution and work on piloting activities.

VTT is the main contributor as a leader of the Enhanced Experience use case piloting activities focusing on providing richer quality of service to local spectators as well as delivering enhanced live experience to remote users using B5G/6G networking in scenario on live public events that are characterized by a dense number of local users (participants) as well as remote participants enabling virtual attendance.
